The chronology is current through the November 1998 announcement of America Online's plan to purchase Netscape. The foundation of newWebMakers.com started in the early 1990's, when we started working with clients helping them assess, prepare for, and apply new information technology. The Internet was old, but the general public was just becoming aware of it as a consumerable resource.
Tomas Hood is the founder of newWebMakers.com. Tomas began working with computers and software development in 1983. He has worked with TheTravelers, the United States Army, and with many diverse clients and companies through the many years. In the early 1990's, when the Internet became a consumer-oriented phenomena, Tomas founded a small consulting firm that provided not only traditional software engineering services, but also website design consulting.
newWebMakers.com is the result of over a decade of experience specifically revolving around the Internet and web technology. We focus on enabling people and companies to build capital wealth by harnessing their resources and linking technology, strategy, processes, and people.
We create custom software, from simple scripts and CGI applets, to full-scale software application development. We design and deploy websites, and enhance web sites with technology (linking databases with interactive web pages, creating Customer Relationship Management systems, and so on). We forge these solutions using Perl, PHP, WML (WAP), XML, XHTML and HTML, Java (and JavaScript), C / C++, SQL, and related languages and protocols on various platforms, in diverse settings.

Transactive content is a giant step beyond client/server and the dead Web. The key distinguishing characteristic of transactive content is that under the covers there will be serious application logic that allows users to not only view information, but also take meaningful action -- order goods, get services and help, juggle a personal portfolio, or restock inventory. Exploding consumer and business demand for interactive content will force a collision of Web authors and client/server developers -- the result of this big bang will be transactive content.
Starting in 1993, we were an early participant in the expansion of the World Wide Web, developing some of the first commercial sites as well as individual presence sites for a variety of corporations and sole proprietors. In the process, we have gained an in-depth knowledge of the Internet environment, and how to do business in this new medium.
In a nutshell, newWebMakers.com designs, builds, maintains, and markets information and communications technology. We produce, program, host, and maintain Internet web sites for corporate clients. We gather requirements, perform design and manage development of software and database projects. We create e-commerce and interactive Internet experiences.
